橡膠式緩沖器具有抗沖擊，抗壓性能弱，使用壽命短的缺點。
因此較發達國家近年來大都采用新工藝生產聚氨酯類緩沖器，這種緩沖器克服了三種老式緩沖器的主要缺點，工作是對吊車幾乎沒有反彈沖擊，單位體積的沖擊容量大，安裝非常簡單，不用維修，抗老化性能優良，而且成本只有彈簧式緩沖器的二分之壹，比液壓式更低
